Cadastral plan: how to search by parcel number
A parcel map shows the current geometry of land parcels. A survey plan is a registered technical record containing data from the survey. They are not the same document and do not serve the same purpose.
How do I search for a survey plan?
- 1. Identify the parcel.
Confirm the department, parcel number and, where applicable, locality.
- 2. Open the official archive.
The MTOP survey plan management system lets you filter your search.
- 3. Check the record.
A parcel may have more than one historical record; confirm which one is relevant to your intended use.
Parcel map vs survey plan
The INGAR parcel map helps you locate a parcel and consult open attributes. It does not, by itself, represent the content, signature or validity of a registered plan.
Does the detailed cadastral certificate show the plan?
The official procedure states that a detailed cadastral certificate may include the original survey plan among its immediate supporting records. This does not guarantee that every plan is available: see the difference between standard and detailed certificates.
